Mandatory Taxes & Forced Labor
Mandatory labor was often used to build luxurious palaces and structures to satisfy the emperor. The historical Terra-Cotta army was used to most for these projects. The emperor also tried to keep intellectual growth from his citizens. To do that, he burned the books and scrolls that contained the different schools of philosophy that had been circulating at the time. He even wanted to burying the scholars who started those philosophies! Many of the schools and the philosophies had seen there ends during this period.
Taxes were also a big issue at the time. The people have large taxes that were spent on the emperor's efforts to better his military. These people, as stated before, also had to do forced labor that was unjustly difficult. Military service was also forced on them. All of this was compelled by the misuse of legalism.
As a result of these harsh and cruel changes, the empire had become weaker. This eventually brought an end to the Qin Dynasty and marked the rise of the Han Dynasty.
