The Shang Dynasty rose around 1556B.C. Most of the descendants inhabited the lower end of the Yellow River during the Xia Dynasty. The capital, Yin, presently known as Xiaotun Village, is found just north of the Yellow River. The Shang Dynasty was the second established dynasty in China. It was first led by King Tang. The Last Emperor
The last known emperor of the Shang Dynasty was King Zhou. He was also known as the worst king in the history of China. King Zhou had caused his people to fight against him. Many of his family did not agree with his way of leadership but King Zhou never seemed to care. Eventually, as a result of his atrocious actions towards his people, he was defeated by the tribe of Zhou.
Religion
Religion in the Shang Dynasty was mainly based on ancestral worship. They practiced worshiping different Gods. It was believed that the highest God was Shang Ti/Shang Di. He was the god that ruled over the lesser Gods and was known and the "Lord on high." The people of the Shang Dynasty also worshipped the earth's composition. Such as the sky, land, moon, sun, wind, stars, seas, and rivers. They believed that the blessings and prosperity that the dynasty had came from above and beyond.
King Tangs Rule & the Priest Class
The aristocratic form of leadership was practiced in the Shang Dynasty. An aristocrat is a member of a ruling class of nobility in the dynasty. The Shang Dynasty was always ruled by a king. Military nobleness was under the reign of King tang for a period of time. During the era known as the King Tang Era of Leadership, the culture and history of China gradually improved and enhanced. King Tang also helped lead to the rise, wealth, and growth and the country's economy and culture. Most of this information is known do to the responsibility of the priest class. The priest class had always been responsible for the records of government and the country's religion.
King Tang had learned from King Jie's mistakes in the Xia Dynasty and was able to improve his leadership approach with country people such as commoners, officials, and others to make a better leader. He treated his people with munificence(great generosity), consideration, oncern, kindness, and compassion. People adored King Tang and appreciated his compassionate rule. People soon became motivated to impress him by his technique of leadership. This motivation soon lead to various achievements, enhancements, innovations, and discoveries on different fields such as culture, tradition, crafts, farming, economic style, carving, arts, technology, fishing, and many others. People were also inspired by his goodness and love for them and that is why they strived to return King Tang's efforts through their work. In conclusion, the people of the Shang Dynasty during King Tang's rule lived happy, prosperous lives.
